Biography Second Sky is Billy Medina, Liam Lascek-Speakman and Wes DiIorio. The band was formed by Billy, Liam, Wes, and Michael Christie (aka Telepath), in 2002 from the remnants of the Arabic ensemble "Medina." Second Sky was created to explore the musicians' interests in other forms of music including house, dancehall, trip-hop and bossa nova. That year the band released "Random Escape Plan" and spent 2003 and 2004 touring the east coast, performing with bands such as The New Deal, Moonraker, Particle and Dub Trio. The shows were highlighted by regular guest apperances from musicians like Melissa Dunphy (aka Mormolyke), DJ Image, Justin King, Dan Kauffman and Tim Riggs. Also in 2004, Second Sky was featured by L'Oreal's "Garnier Fructis" in promoting its website.
Second Sky's new single called "Tie Down", on Escada Music, is available exclusively at beatport.com, and includes remixes by Nikola Gala and Sancho & E-Lation. (Tie Down) "Such a brilliant vocal....Love it, playing it for many more moons to come" - Opencloud. Expect several more releases in coming months. As at home creating moody instrumentals as they are at pop structured vocal tracks (with a twist of course), Second Sky's music is as versitile as it is eclectic. Kevin Krieger, Weekender Correspondent, says: "An electronic jam that deftly combines acid jazz and trip-hop and marries them to a funky backbeat for a totally modern sound." Carla Di Fonzo, Intelligencer Journal, says: "Second Sky laces together space-age electronica and global-village funk. The result is archaic-futurism that you can dance to." Second Sky's music has received plenty of internet-radio airplay recently, featured on broadcasts including Willy Sanjuans "House Kingdom", DJ Clairvo's "Downtempohead" and Opencoud's "Mousa". Currently, Several collaborations are also in the works, with such artists as Sancho & E-Lation, sitarist Harry Payuta, and Upstairs Recordings' Solus. |
